I think I was a botanist in my last life because Plants are extremely fascinating to me. Some plants are known to clean toxins from the air and some promote peace and tranquility. If you are wondering what plants are perfect to adorn your home with look no further.

Having plants in the home and office environment is a must for an improvement in over all well being. Breathing in purer air helps to lower anxiety levels and blood pressure which concurrently helps to ease our mental state. These 10 plants have been proven to help clear toxins and promote cleaner air. 

 
 

1. Areca Palm

Purify the air in your space with Areca Palm. This plant is perfect for homes and offices because it is easy to care for and able to add moisture to the atmosphere. It is proven to remove unwanted toxins like formaldehyde, benzene and trichloroethylene from the air.

Peace lily plants pack some major air cleaning abilities. These plants are extremely easy to grow and when taken care of, flower in the summer. Peace lilies thrive in shady spots with moist soil. The pollutants that are removed by this plant include ammonia, benzene, formaldehyde and trichloroethylene. 

 
 

3. Snake Plant

Native to West Africa this plant, also called the Mother-in-law's tongue, requires a bit more water than the other plants mentioned, but it is also the hardest plant to kill.

If you suffer from headaches or breathing issues, this will be a great addition to your space

Aloe Vera is known for its herbal remedial abilities and as a natural, it is also known to retain that moisture in your curls, but having an actual plant in your home is said to purify your home dramatically.

5. Spider Plant

The Spider Plant is one of the easiest houseplants to grow. It removes toxins as well as carbon monoxide from the air.

7. Philodendron

Even people with "black thumbs" are able to grow this plant. They are perfectly happy growing in an indoor environment and require low maintenance.

This plant does most of the chemical removal, however it is toxic to cats dogs and children that may feel the need to chew it. 

This plant enjoys medium, indirect sun light and requires regular watering.  

 
 

9. Jasmine

Sleep plays an important role in our physical and mental wellbeing. So if you are lacking in sleep, you may feel an array of different symptoms, well, some jasmine may be what you need.

The fragrance of the flowers is not only appealing to our senses, but it is also proven to promote a better night's sleep. Around Jasmine, you may feel less anxious and more at peace, which results in a more alert mental state.

10. Lavender

Part of the mint family, Lavender is proven to help lower anxiety and stress . 

It is very common to find Lavender in essential oil fragrances and many body fragrances, but it is known to calm the mind. 

I even use Lavender essential oils in my diffuser at night to promote a restful night.
