Mom's Apple Pie || Leesburg, VA
/Today my mom and I had a cute mother-daughter day in Leesburg. Strolling the Historic District, we, serendipitously, discovered Mom's Apple Pie bakery! I first heard about the bakery in 2012, when Michelle Obama was seen visiting the Occoquan location (She ordered an Apple Pie and a Sour Cherry Pie, in case you were curious). I am not a huge pie fan, but I have heard many positive reviews about the desserts and had to try it for myself.

I am very keen on aesthetics, and this place definitely met my expectations.

So far so good.
The shop was quaint and endearing, with dessert everywhere; from apple pies and cookies to whoopee pies and cakes. This bakery had it all and I wanted it all... in my belly!
The bakery clerks were helpful and attentive, so they will most likely answer any and all questions that you may have upon your visit. The counter servers are all really excited about their products, as they should be.
You can purchase pies by the whole or by the slice
Unfortunately, I was too distracted by the desserts to take enough photos so I had to borrow them from the internets. Nevertheless, the display pretty much looked like this:

The pies do not come warm, or at least my slice didn't. The cost per slice was $3.50 and the price per pie ranged from $17 to $20, depending on the flavor. Not too shabby, given that these pies are prepared with love and...apples that come from the Shenandoah Valley.
In 2010, Mom's won an award for the "Best of the U.S. in Your Backyard" award for Boston Cream Pie. This may be a flavor that you would want to try first? Or Michelle Obama's order of the Sour Cherry Pie sounds intriguing. Personally, I am more cautious when it comes to new flavors so my mom and I shared a slice of the Apple Pie.
When I do get a craving for pies, it is usually for the crust with just a sliver of the apple cream filling. My mom is the opposite and enjoys the filling with just a tiny bit of the crust, so we are definitely made to eat pie together.
Slight anecdote for those who also love the crust.
GET THIS PIE because the crust is just everything you could ask for. It was flakey and doughy at the same time. Truly, I am unable to fully articulate the magnitude of joy that my taste buds felt as that pie graced my tongue!
I can't even imagine how it it would have tasted if I had warmed it.
