Compact Photography at AFROPUNK
/I really wanted to take my DSLR with me to AFROPUNK this year, but because of explicit restrictions, decided against it. Instead, I thought it best to take my compact camera. It was a good choice until I dropped it... on concrete....but I am not going to dwell on that, as it still send chills up my spine. I just thought it best to give acknowledgment since it happened... ha.
Moving on, my intentions were to capture, not only some of the performances, but also the people, the style, the vibes and the glorious black existence that is AFROPUNK. I will save the non performance photos that I took for a total recap of the festival because for the most part, I was not focusing on proper technique but trying to take it all in.
However, I tried to take some pretty decent performance portraits so let me know what you think in the comments below!
These photos are from Sunday Night's performance and included Erykah Badu and Janelle Monáe with some special celebrity guests. So without further ado, here are some of the performance photos from this year's festival.
What are the odds that they’d ask me to photograph the next festival to see what I can do with my DSLR?
