AFROPUNK Brooklyn "Lewks"
Don't get me wrong, I loved my outfit. I was really trying to showcase my African Pride in a modern sense with the two-piece attire, but Y'all, nothing could have prepared me for the level of stylistic overload that would come with this experience. To this day, I still don't know what the "theme" of AFROPUNK is because the outfits were all so different; but in a good way. They were all beautifully prideful, black and golden. People were really out here stunting and making statements everywhere they walked. Consequently, to say that I felt like a Crayola Crayon coloring book in the midst of tons of elaborate acrylic and watercolor paintings would, honestly, be an understatement. But don't worry, I am coming back with vengeance next year, just wait and see!
Here are some AFROPUNK outfits that I feel represented the varying degrees of styles portrayed at the festival:
These photos were taken on my iPhone so please excuse the quality. After my expensive a** camera dropped, I had anxiety taking it back out. Regardless of my photography technique, these looks were all so different but really spoke to the many styles exhibited at this festival.
Hope you enjoyed.
