I was first introduced to Pholk Beauty products this past August at the 2018 AFROPUNK Brooklyn Festival. I was lured by the displays of beautiful black skin and aesthetically pleasing product displays. After meeting the owner of the company, Niambi Cacchiolli, and learning about her research in skin care and holistic practices, I was instantly moved to write a review solely on the mission of this phenomenal brand.

After speaking to Niambi about my skin challenges, she suggested the SuperLeaf Moringa Pore TeaTox Mask. To my surprise, this mask has been a life changing addition to my skin regimen and I will tell you why.

The Product:

Superleaf Moringa Pore TeaTox Mask for Dry|Combination | Acne Prone Skin Types.

The Moringa powder has a very sweet and minty aroma and comes packaged in a durable twist top white plastic container. This chlorophyll and anti-oxidant loaded powder is perfect for clogged, blemished and oily skin, as it incorporates the following ingredients:

  • Moringa green tea
packed with Vitamins B, C, A, iron and amino acids to rebuild / promote overall skin health

  • Georgia Kaolin Clay
Gently pulls out acne-causing dirt, bacteria and excess oil from pores

I, personally, like powdered masks because it increases the shelf-life of the product and also allows some room for the user to customize their skin care to tackle specific skin concerns. For example, you could add in a tiny bit of honey or turmeric to enhance more of the healing properties of the mask. I mix mix a very small amount of powder ( about half a teaspoon) with distilled water and mix it together until I reach a creamy consistency. I then, use an application brush to smooth it on my face and wait a couple of minutes for it to dry. Dry times may vary depending on your measurements & thickness. The great thing about this mask is that you don’t have to use it as a mask at all, you could simply use it as a cleanser and be on your merry way! I prefer to use it as a detox mask, so I end up keeping it on longer.

Some Background On Pholk Beauty:

Pholk Beauty is a very new brand imagined and formulated by Niambu Cacchioli who found herself totally frustrated with the lack of products that addressed her skin concerns, especially in the age of inclusive beauty.

Niambi is an African Diapora scholar who has connected her research of history and the power of our natural earthly materials to formulate the perfect skincare regimen for each unique need and/or lifestyle. Her travels to different countries and conversations at local apothecaries have become some of her favorite ways to engage with timeless folk, cultivators and botanicals that are the cornerstone of her brand.

If that is not enough to enthrall you, all of her products contain zero synthetics and are completely vegan! Honestly, because of the great results I have received by using this tea mask, I may very well be purchasing some of the other products in the future. I have seen such a difference in the suppleness of my skin, as well as witnessed its work in reducing the size of active acne sites overnight.

Remember, for every skin product, you should use consistently and not expect results for about 3 or so months. With masks, it can be kind of difficult for me to immediately see results because of inconsistent use.

Try adding this Superleaf Moringa Tea Mask to your skin regimen and let me know if it works for you in the comments below!
