I Spent $122 on Glossier Products
This is not a sponsored review.
Glossier is a company that sounds French, but it actually a company founded in the heart of New York City. Its Founder and CEO, Emily Weiss, a graduate of New York University took her degree in Art and held a few positions with both the W Magazine and Vogue before pursuing her skincare venture full time.
Glossier Product Haul
Since 2014, Weiss' skincare company has taken the beauty industry by storm, and has made a modern monogram of the letter G and a set of drawn stickers a staple of this global brand. This company is known to stand apart from the rest in their industry by only offering the essentials to skincare and a minimalist approach to pulling of the seemingly popular "no makeup, makeup" craze.
Glossier's products do not claim to hide blemishes or to "erase any other evidence that you are, in fact, a real human being" , but instead to enhance an individual's natural beauty"...if you are wondering where these quotes are coming form, it is coming straight from the source!
This brand promises a lot without promising anything at all, a natural healthy glow with little effort? I feel like I would be doing myself a disservice if I did not test it out. I have problematic skin, you know the type that breaks out after just satisfying an itch on my forehead. However, at first glance I found immediate cons to their marketing. One, there is not much diversity in skin color ranges and Two, all of the models had perfect skin. They were already so smooth and buttery, I was sitting at my computer wondering why they need to use any type of tinted anything. Honestly, I am skeptical.... but I, too, would like a pristine "I just woke up like this, it only took me 3 minutes to get ready, yes- I drink all my water and eat all my veggies" type of glow! Ok, that may be slightly dramatic, but I have had acne pretty much my entire life and just seeing these models made me think that this product may not be made for problematic skin like mine..
Sensibility aside, I visited their website and must have blacked out because I spent an entire $122 on products!! If you are curious about how these products held up on my acne prone, yellow undertone-d, combination skin, read on.

The Products:
Boy Brow: Grooming Pomade in Black - $16
The Boy Brow is a product that claims to help you create the perfect brow. Its creamy wax formula is a sculpture and filler all in one. It comes in four shades, but I bought the Black shade. This product is probably my favorite, as it is the most used product in my collection. since I am not an expert on eyebrow grooming, I wanted something that was easy to use and also able to define my eyebrows without making it stand out. This product definitely does what it claims.
PROS: surprisingly thick formula
CONS: too tiny--give me more!!! Price is steep for the amount of product given.
Haloscope in Topaz : Sunkissed Glow
Haloscope: Dew Effect Highlighter in Topaz - $22
The Haloscope is a highlighter stick that is infused with genuine crystal extracts with a core of vitamin-rich moisturizing complex. This highlighter definitely made me look dewy and naturally sun-kissed.
I was skeptical about the moisturizing properties of this highlighter because of my acne prone skin, but I did not see any new breakouts after hours of using this product, so I think it is a pretty solid product. Are there better highlighters out there? Yes, I prefer to use powder based highlighters because I do have combination skin, but I liked the natural glow that it gave me.
PROS: compact, beautiful bronze highlight, swipe application
CONS: streaky application blend well.
Stretch Concealer : Flexible Coverage in Deep - $18
PROS: Buildable coverage, compact, matched skin tone ; creamy and easy to apply.
CONS: none
Cloud Paint : Dusk & Puff - $18
This gel cream paint is used as a blush. it is buildable to give you a nice healthy flush look. I am not really a blush girl, but I had heard really great things about the Cloud Paints so I decided to give it a try. Like my highlighter, I prefer to use powder based blushes, but it does apply beautifully with the other products within the Glossier line.
PROS : beautiful colors , a little goes a long way , buildable formula , very pigmented; cute packaging
CONS: none
*Costumer Service is also stellar. I ordered Dusk and was accidentally sent Puff in a "Dusk" packaging so they sent me the correct color at no additional cost and let me keep the other. So now I have two!
Perfecting Skin Tint: Sheer Skin Enhancer in Deep - $26
This is not a buildable product, I repeat this is not a buildable product! This perfecting Skin tint is extremely sheer (as the name suggests) however, due to its ultra slim coverage it is really difficult to attain a full coverage unless you use the whole bottle. It did not do much to hide the hyper pigmented areas of my face. Regardless I did enjoy the dewey finish that promoted a healthier looking skin.
I did notice that my face became more oily throughout the day. I am not sure if that is an effect of the finish of the product or if it was a result of the reaction to the chemistry of my skin. Regardless, that can be fixed with a little bit of powder, or should I say "Wowder".
Wowder: Finishing Powder in Dark/Deep - $22
The Wowder powder is a great multi use product that does not make your skin look cakey when applied. I used this to set my makeup and get rid of the dewey look throughout the day. I was impressed by this powder's setting capabilities. This product felt the most like applying makeup, but still kept my skin looking natural afterwards.
Don't apply too much! It does have the potential to look a bit cakey if you use too much of it, but it looks really natural after it settles on your skin.
PROS: did not cake, blended into skin naturally; removed dewey look
CONS: limited shine control
Overall, I’d say that Glossier this is a pretty great makeup brand that stands true to its claims and mission to emphasize less makeup and more skincare. It enhances your natural beauty without the hassle of heavy makeup formulas and cuts down application process by giving you the option to use your hands.
Additional Thoughts
PROS: everyday, no makeup makeup use ; great compact packaging; dewey natural look
CONS: lacks wide variety of color ranges for people of darker complexions ; sometimes it looks too dewey that it looks oily. due to the natural oils that are infused in the product. This could potentially break out .
